Autumn Collage

Crafty Kids: Autumn CollageAutumn is my favourite season. I love all the different colours on the trees and that crisp feeling in the air. For this craft I wanted to capture the colours of autumn in a picture while giving the children lots of opportunity for making decisions.

There are many ways to collect materials for the collage. We went to the local park and gathered some leaves and also cut leaves out of coloured card. You could also paint a sheet of paper by mixing red, yellow and green paint and cut leaves from that. We used animal and leaf stickers that we bought, but you can cut pictures from magazines, print them from the Internet or draw your own autumn animals.

Materials:

  • An A4 piece of coloured paper (a bright autumn colour works best)
  • A selection of leaves, autumn pictures, animal pictures etc
  • Glue
  • Laminator and sheet (optional)

 Instructions:

  1. Let the children glue the different pictures on the A4 paper in their own designs.
  2. Leave to dry and then display the beautiful collage.
  3. You can laminate the picture (or cover in contact paper) when dry. This is particularly good if you have used real leaves, as it will stop them drying and crumbling over the floor!
