June 2014: The Birds and the Bees
Is sex a “three letter word”? It would seem so! There are so many taboos and embarrassing issues when dealing with the topic, even though it’s a normal and natural part of life. This month we share ways parents can approach sex education for children of all ages, from the little ones to the teens. And it seems that we parents barely have time to accomplish that, when – surprise! – our children hit adolescence and start choosing partners and exploring their sexuality. Our writers share their experiences with their own teenaged kids; furthermore we learn how, as parents, we can support our child if she or he is gay. We also explain an important topic for the parents of girls: the cervical cancer vaccine. There is so much more in this June issue, so have a look around and feel free to join in the conversation or leave us feedback.
As the birds are singing, flowers are blossoming and – to complete the idyllic picture – the lambs are frolicking in the fields, we hope you are enjoying the days as spring turns into summer. And really, what better time is there to discuss the birds and the bees?
